Jean Pelletier (born November 21, 1935, in Chicoutimi, Quebec, Canada; died January 10, 2009, in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada) was a Canadian politician, journalist, and author who served as the mayor of Quebec City from 1977 to 1989 and was a member of the Liberal Party of Canada.
Pelletier was a prominent figure in Quebec politics and played a key role in the country's constitutional negotiations in the 1980s. He was a close advisor to both Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau and his son Justin Trudeau, the current Prime Minister of Canada.
Pelletier was also a prolific journalist and author, having published a number of books and articles throughout his career. He was a recipient of numerous awards and honours, including the Order of Canada and the Order of Quebec.
After his death, Pelletier was widely praised for his contributions to Canadian politics and his commitment to public service. His legacy continues to be celebrated in Quebec City and beyond.
